MSU board appoints acting dean of veterinary college

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State University Board of Trustees has approved the appointment of Janver Krehbiel as acting dean of the MSU College of Veterinary Medicine.

A longtime faculty member and administrator in the college, Krehbiel's appointment is effective through Dec. 31.

It marks the second time Krehbiel has served as the College of Veterinary Medicine's acting dean. He had previously assumed the role in 1991.

Since 1998, Krehbiel has been the college's senior associate dean for administration and associate dean for academic programs. He also is a professor in the Department of Pathobiology and Diagnostic Investigation, a department in which he has served as acting chairperson (1980-81) and assistant chairperson (1981-88).

An MSU faculty member since 1966, Krehbiel earned a doctorate and master's degrees from MSU. He also has a bachelor's degree and DVM from Kansas State University.

Krehbiel is filling in for Dean Lonnie King, who is on a one-year appointment at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
