EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State University's housing rates will remain among the most competitive in the nation under new rates approved by the university's Board of Trustees at its meeting today.
The new rates call for a 5.25 percent increase in room-and-board rates for the 2005-06 fiscal year. Effective fall semester 2005, it will cost $5,744 annually for a student to live in an on-campus residence hall (double room, 15 meals per week).
Even with the increase, MSU's on-campus room-and-board expenses are among the lowest in the Big Ten and the lowest among Michigan public universities.
"The housing staff takes great pride in the delivery of quality services to our student customers," said Charles Gagliano, assistant vice president for housing and food services. "These new room-and-board rates emphasize our position as one of the most affordable housing systems in the nation."
In addition, rates for a remodeled, one-bedroom university apartment will rise 5.25 percent to $581 per month, a $29 increase over last year. Rates for a remodeled two-bedroom university apartment also will rise 5.25 percent to $644 per month, a $32 increase over last year.
University Housing continues to meet the residential and academic needs of MSU's students.
