Scott Romney of Birmingham was appointed to the Michigan State University Board of Trustees by Governor John Engler on August 15, 2000. In November 2000, he was elected to serve an eight-year term on the Board.
Romney joined Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn in 1976 and is a partner and member of its board of directors. He previously practiced law in New York, and served as president of the Lakeway Corporation in Austin, Texas. He serves as a member of the board of directors of the Compuware Corporation.
He is active in Hospice of Michigan, Convergence Transportation Electronics Association, The Children's Center of Wayne County, the National Conference for Community and Justice, Detroit Area Council of Boy Scouts of America, and New Detroit.
He received his bachelor of arts degree in economics from MSU in 1966 and his law degree from Harvard Law School in 1969. He also attended Stanford University.
Romney is married to Ellen Rogers and has seven children. Romney is the son of former Michigan Governor George Romney.
