Six MSU students recognized for academic achievement

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Six Michigan State University students were honored for academic achievement by the MSU Board of Trustees at the board's Dec. 6 meeting.

The six students are all December graduates.

The Board of Trustees awards are granted at each commencement to students having the highest scholastic averages at the close of their last semester in attendance.

The recipients of the awards are:

  • James M. Crane of Taylor, a mechanical engineering major in the College of Engineering. He is the son of Timothy and Pamela Crane and is a 1997 graduate of Taylor Center High School. His MSU grade point average is 4.0.
  • Scott M. Schaberg of Battle Creek, an electrical engineering major in the College of Engineering. A member of the Honors College, he is the son of Ron and Marcia Schaberg and is a 1997 graduate of Harper Creek High School. His MSU grade point average is 4.0.
  • Michael D. Tucker of Ann Arbor, a supply chain management major in The Eli Broad College of Business. He is the son of John and Thelma Tucker and is a 1998 graduate of Dexter High School in Dexter. His MSU grade point average is 4.0.
  • Keith A. Int Veld of Lansing, a mechanical engineering major in the College of Engineering. A member of the Honors College, he is the son of Ken and Vera Int Veld and is a 1998 graduate of Lansing Christian School. His MSU grade point average is 3.986.
  • Aashish A. Shah of Canton, a Lyman Briggs-human biology major in the College of Natural Science. A member of the Honors College, he is the son of Ajit and Mita Shah and is a 1999 graduate of Woodhaven High School. His MSU grade point average is 3.978.
  • Walter D. Macklem of Clinton Township, a computer engineering major in the College of Engineering. A member of the Honors College, he is the son of Walter and Loretta Macklem and is a 2000 graduate of Chippewa Valley High School. His MSU grade point average is 3.972.
