MSU board okays guidelines for exceptions to alcohol policy

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State University Board of Trustees has given its approval to a set of guidelines that will be used when university administration considers requests for exceptions to the university's alcohol policy.

The set of guidelines was approved by the board at its April 8 meeting.

At its Feb. 11 meeting, the MSU board approved changes to an ordinance relating to open alcohol containers.

The amendment stated, in part: "The possession of open or uncapped containers of alcoholic beverages and the consumption of alcoholic beverages is prohibited in all public areas of lands governed by the Michigan State University Board of Trustees and in all public areas of campus buildings."
