MSU Board of Trustees recognizes 19 students for academic achievements

EAST LANSING, Mich. –Nineteen Michigan State University students were honored for their academic achievements by the MSU Board of Trustees today.

The 19 students, all May graduates, each achieved a perfect 4.0 grade point average.

The Board of Trustees Awards are granted at each commencement to students having the highest scholastic averages at the close of their last semester in attendance.

Recipients of the award are:

  • Nikunji Chauhan of Livonia, a finance major in The Eli Broad College of Business. Chauhan is a graduate of Winston Churchill High School in Livonia.
  • Erin Duffey of Grand Ledge, an apparel and textile design major in the College of Human Ecology. Duffey is a graduate of Grand Ledge High School.
  • Kristen Fields of Haslett, an audiology and speech sciences major in the College of Communications Arts and Sciences. A member of the Honors College, Fields is a graduate of Haslett High School.
  • Christine Hoppesch of Rochester Hills, an accounting major in The Eli Broad College of Business. A member of the Honors College, Hoppesch is a graduate of Rochester Adams High School.
  • Joseph Keech of Bay City, a mechanical engineering major in the College of Engineering. A member of the Honors College, Keech is a graduate of Central High School in Bay City.
  • Emily Kujawa of Alexandria, Va., a human biology major in the College of Natural Science. A member of the Honors College, Kujawa is a graduate of Libby High School in Libby, Mont.
  • Justin Kuk of Kalamazoo, a civil engineering major in the College of Engineering. A member of the Honors College, Kuk is a graduate of Kalamazoo Area Mathematics and Science Center.
  • Allison Longton of Grosse Ile, an education major in the College of Education. Longton is a graduate of Grosse Ile High School.
  • Daniel MacArthur of Traverse City, a zoology major in the College of Natural Science. A member of the Honors College, MacArthur is a graduate of Traverse City Central High School.
  • Armon Mahajerin of Saginaw, a mechanical engineering major in the College of Engineering. A member of the Honors College, Mahajerin is a graduate of Heritage High School in Saginaw.
  • Joshua Mastenbrook of Plainwell, a Lyman Briggs School-Physiology major in the College of Natural Science. A member of the Honors College, Mastenbrook is a graduate of Plainwell High School.
  • Sheena Moran of Clarkston, a packaging major in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. A member of the Honors College, Moran is a graduate of Clarkston Senior High School.
  • Angela Nocera of Springfield, Mont., an accounting major in The Eli Broad College of Business. Nocera is a graduate of Kickapoo High School in Springfield.
  • Ashley Pruitt of Gaylord, an accounting major in The Eli Broad College of Business. Pruitt is a graduate of Gaylord High School.
  • Margaret Schirmer of Hastings, a nursing major in the College of Nursing. Schirmer is a graduate of Hastings High School.
  • Stephen Shaw of Swartz Creek, a chemical engineering major in the College of Engineering. A member of the Honors College, Shaw is a graduate of Swartz Creek High School.
  • Daniel Sparks of Cassopolis, a biosystems engineering major in the College of Engineering. A member of the Honors College, Sparks is a graduate of Howardsville Christian School in Marcellus.
  • Paul Toste of Kerman, Calif., a human biology major in the College of Natural Science. A member of the Honors College, Toste is a graduate of Kerman High School.
  • Lucas VanEtten of Adrian, a kinesiology major in the College of Education. A member of the Honors College, VanEtten is a graduate of Adrian High School.
