Six grads earn high honors

Six Michigan State University students have earned coveted Board of Trustees awards and were honored for their academic achievements at the Dec. 14 board meeting.

Board of Trustees awards are granted at each commencement to graduating seniors having the highest cumulative grade point averages at the close of the semester prior to graduation.

All recipients earned a 4.0 grade point average.

The recipients for December commencement are:

  • Clare Eagle of Brighton. She is the daughter of Don and Susan Eagle. A member of the Honors College, Eagle is an accounting major in the Broad College of Business. She graduated from Brighton High School.
  • Brett Ekblad of Hoffman Estates, Ill. The son of Gayle and William Murray, he is an advertising major in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences. Ekblad graduated from Barrington Community High School, Barrington, Ill.
  • Alexa Garrison of Sunbury, Ohio. She is the daughter of Ben Garrison of Sunbury, Ohio, and Kristin Garrison of Columbus. A member of the Honors College, Garrison is a human biology major in the College of Natural Science. She graduated from Worthington Christian High School, Worthington, Ohio.
  • Ashley Potter of Howell. The daughter of Randall and Cathy Potter of Glenmoore, Pa., Potter is a member of the Honors College and a fisheries and wildlife major in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. She is a graduate of Brighton High School.
  • Benjamin Wilson of Portage. He is the son of Sue Wilson of Kalamazoo and Dave Wilson of Charlotte, N.C. A member of the Honors College, Wilson is an accounting major in the Broad College of Business. He graduated from Charlotte Catholic High School, Charlotte, N.C.
  • Matthew Witmer of St. Clair Shores. The son of John and Jeannette Witmer, he is a mechanical engineering major in the College of Engineering. Witmer graduated from South Lake High School, St. Clair Shores.
