Board of Trustees honors 33 students for academic excellence

EAST LANSING, Mich. — At the April 15 Board of Trustees meeting, 33 students received Board of Trustees’ Awards for having the highest scholastic average at the close of his or her last semester in attendance at Michigan State University. They all received a 4.0 GPA.

This semester’s number of recipients is the most in the award’s history, which dates back to 1921.

The students will also be recognized at their spring commencements May 6-8.

Following is the list of awardees:

  • Christine Bingham, of Armada, is the daughter of Jean and Arthur Bingham. A member of the Honors College, Bingham is double majoring in packaging in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, and Spanish in the College of Arts and Letters. She is a graduate of Armada High School.
  • Erin Bojarzin, of Troy, is the daughter of Dirk and Kathy Bojarzin. She is an accounting major in the Eli Broad College of Business. She is a graduate of Athens High School.
  • Ellen Bornhorst, of Houghton, is the daughter of Ted and Laurie Bornhorst. A member of the Honors College, Bornhorst is a biosystems engineering major in the College of Engineering. She is a graduate of Houghton High School.
  • Jamila Boulnemour, of Vicksburg, is the daughter of Mary and Lahoussine Boulnemour. Boulnemour is a communicative sciences and disorders major in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences. She is a graduate of Vicksburg Community High School.
  • Andrew Bromley, of Lake Isabella, is the son of Mary and Robert Bromley. A member of the Honors College, Bromley is double majoring in hospitality business in the Eli Broad College of Business and dietetics in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. He is a graduate of Mount Pleasant High School.
  • Jenna Brown, of St. Johns, is the daughter of Ronald and Jane Brown. A member of the Honors College, she is a nursing major in the College of Nursing. She is a graduate of St. Johns High School.
  • Alexandra Buckley, of Farmington Hills, is the daughter of Terry and Kimberly Buckley. A member of the Honors College, Buckley is an animal science major in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. She is a graduate of Farmington High School.
  • Evamarie Cropsey, of DeWitt, is the daughter of Alan and Erika Cropsey. Cropsey is double majoring in linguistics and Spanish in the College of Arts and Letters. Cropsey was homeschooled.
  • Thao Dinh, of Holland, is the daughter of Thien Dinh and Dang Mai. A member of the Honors College, Dinh is double majoring in communicative sciences and disorders in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences and Japanese in the College of Arts and Letters. She is a graduate of Holland High School.
  • Emily Disbrow, of Wheaton, Ill., is the daughter of Mark and Bonnie Disbrow. A member of the Honors College, Disbrow is double majoring in human biology in Lyman Briggs College and psychology in the College of Social Science. She is a graduate of Wheaton Warrenville South High School.
  • Steven Garske, of Bay City, is the son of Jackie and Michael Showalter of Bay City and Mark Garske of Saginaw. Garske is a computer science major in the College of Engineering. He is a graduate of All Saints Central High School.
  • Beth Gniewek, of Dearborn Heights, is the daughter of William and Peggy Gniewek. Gniewek is an English major in the College of Arts and Letters and has an additional major in history. She is a graduate of Crestwood High School.
  • Anthony Grittini, of Sterling Heights, is the son of Tim and Linda Grittini. Grittini is a chemical engineering major in the College of Engineering. He is a graduate of Paul K. Cousino Senior High School.
  • Alexa Hayes, of Holt, is the daughter of Raymond Hayes of Naperville, Ill., and Melissa Wyant of Holt. Hayes is an English major for secondary education in the College of Arts and Letters and College of Education. She is a graduate of Holt High School.
  • Lauren Hayes, of Louisville, Ky., is the daughter of Tom and LuAnn Hayes. A member of the Honors College, Hayes is an interdisciplinary studies in social science – community relations major in the College of Social Science. She is a graduate of Kentucky Country Day School.
  • Rebecca Jaskot, of Northville, is the daughter of David and Connie Jaskot. A member of the Honors College, Jaskot is a journalism major in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences. She is a graduate of Northville High School.
  • Mark Kehoe, of Wantage, N.J., is the son of William and Diane Kehoe, He is a political science – prelaw major in the College of Social Science. He is a graduate of High Point Regional High School.
  • Sutton Koetje, of Grand Rapids, is the daughter of Cynthia Borgerson of Traverse City and Mark Koetje of Grand Rapids. Koetje is a hospitality business major in the Eli Broad College of Business. She is a graduate of Forest Hills Central High School.
  • Bryan Lenneman, of Corunna, is the son of Erwin and Michele Lenneman. Lenneman is a genomics and molecular genetics major in Lyman Briggs College. He is a graduate of Corunna High School.
  • Huan Liu, of Beijing, is the daughter of Tong and Hualin Liu. She is a finance major in the Eli Broad College of Business, and is a graduate of Beijing Zhong Guan Cun Middle School.
  • Trevor Logan, of Mason, is the son of Gary and Mary Logan. A member of the Honors College, Logan is a finance major in the Eli Broad College of Business. He is a graduate of Mason High School.
  • Sarah Maki, of Northville, is the daughter of Auday Maki and Salwa Atwan. A member of the Honors College, Maki is a physiology major in Lyman Briggs College. She is a graduate of Northville High School.
  • Erik Ohlsson, of Lake Orion, is the son of Merrily and Donald Ohlsson. Ohlsson is a civil engineering major in the College of Engineering. He is a graduate of Notre Dame Preparatory.
  • Ashley Paluta, of Cincinnati, is the daughter of Marek and Tracy Paluta. A member of the Honors College, Paluta is a human biology major in the College of Natural Science. Paluta is a graduate of Madeira High School.
  • Pan Peng, of Changsha, China, is the daughter of Pingliang Peng and Lihua Zhu. Peng is a finance major in the Eli Broad College of Business. She is a graduate of Changsha Yali Middle School.
  • Leif Peterson II, of Bay City, is the son of Leif and Leslie Peterson. A member of the Honors College, Peterson II is a chemical physics major in the College of Natural Science. He is a graduate of Bay City Western High School.
  • Samantha Rinke, of Farmington Hills, is the daughter of Maureen Rinke and the late Richard Rinke. A member of the Honors College, Rinke is a nursing major in the College of Nursing. She is a graduate of North Farmington High School.
  • Brian Rockwell, of Houston, is the son of Jim and Kathy Rockwell. A member of the Honors College, Rockwell is double majoring in mechanical engineering in the College of Engineering and economics in the College of Social Science. He is a graduate of Memorial Senior High School.
  • Megan Salada, of Clarkston, is the daughter of Pam and Dave Salada. Salada is an elementary education major in the College of Education. She is a graduate of Clarkston Senior High School.
  • Andrew VanEgmond, of Grosse Pointe Woods, is the son of Thomas and Jeanne VanEgmond. A member of the Honors College, VanEgmond is a history major in the College of Social Science. He is a graduate of Grosse Pointe North High School.
  • Lu Wang, of Shandong, China, is the daughter of Dishan Wang and Henfang Yin. Wang is a communication major in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences. Wang is a graduate of Yantia No. 2 High School.
  • Kelly Wilt, of Macomb, is the daughter of Charles and Susan Wilt. A member of the Honors College, Wilt is a physiology major in Lyman Briggs College. She is a graduate of Dwight D. Eisenhower High School.
  • Fei Yuan, of Beijing, is the son of Mianjun Sun and Shichao Yuan. A member of the Honors College, Yuan is a physics major in the College of Natural Science. He is a graduate of Livingstone Kolobeng College in Gaborone, Botswana.
